Flip Flop Art!

by Flip Girl on April 9, 2009

What does this amazing work of art say to you? Maybe you hear that song in your head…Don’t Worry, Be Happy! I loved it from the moment I saw it because it’s just so cheerful and fun!

The colorful flip flops are perfect for scales on this wall plaque. How did they think of that? Turning flip flops into scales is really creative! The details on these flip flops are stunning. It’s ceramic, and for those of you looking at your walls for a spot right now, it measures about 9 inches high.

I have the perfect spot for thisFish Outta Water! You know there’s always room for flip flops around here.

I wonder if this could be done with real flip flops. Maybe I’m meant to be a flip flop artist!

Flip flop time is here…decorate yourself and your walls!!

April Showers with Croc Slides!

by Flip Girl on April 6, 2009

ScreenHunter 01 Apr. 03 20

Today I was singing in the rain…just singing in the rain! Well, maybe not, but my feet were happy in my Croc Slides just like the ones above. It rained all day long, and I had to run errands.

I’ve always been a big Croc fan because we live near the water and do quite a bit of boating. They are the best shoes to have when you think you might get a little wet, wouldn’t you say?

Everyone around here has Crocs of all different styles. My husband and children have them, and I have more than one pair. {Hey, they have lots of colors and I like to match!}

ScreenHunter 02 Apr. 03 20

These are cheerful and perfect for Spring! I even saw a pair of pink ones for $18.99!

Check out the colors on these Croc Slides…you might need more than one pair!

Oh, and don’t forget about how comfortable these are…I was so surprised the first time I tried them on!

You gotta keep your feet happy…even in the rain!

by Flip Girl on April 1, 2009

ScreenHunter 15 Mar. 27 20

I always thought putting flip flops on the table would be rude…but not these little cuties!

These are flip flop placecard holders, and they are an awesome way to decorate your table for a summer party! What a great hostess gift!

Each one is handpainted with little details that you have to love! The starfish one is my favorite, and I never knew placecard holders like this exsisted until today! Well, I guess you do learn something new everyday.

Beachcomber Flip Flop Holders are $3.34 for the set of 4!41ng0rnv89l.-sl500-aa280-2.jpg

These are the Garden Party Flip Flop Holders! {2 cute pairs for $3.34!}

Oh, aren’t they something?!

They would make adorable memo holders!

I’ve gotta stop talking about them before I contact them and ask about bulk shipping charges!

I hope you enjoyed this great little “flip flop find” for your home!

Not all flip flops are meant for your feet!

Make Your Own Fabulous Flip Flops!

by Flip Girl on March 29, 2009

flip flop 1

Let’s make our own fabulous flip flops!

 I’m usually searching all over to find the cheapest deals, but today we’re making our own great deal! {Nifty Thrifty!}

This whole project can cost you less than $5 and you’ll have flip flops to match your personality without searching all over town.  This is really easy and fun…how’s that sound?  Let’s get right to it then!

Run out and grab a pair of cheap flip flops…And I mean CHEAP!

flip flop3

I think you can find these for $1.99, but I paid a whopping $3.99 for mine!

Gather some scrap material from around the house. You can even cut up a shirt or bandana for this fun little project.

You’ll need some scissors, a  needle or two {just in case you break one…not that I would know about that}, and thread.

flip flop 4

Now it’s time to get started by sewing the strips of fabric together in sets of 4 or 5.  Your strips can be any length because you’ll just attach more when you run out.  There’s no special technique here, and feel free to use a sewing machine if you find that’s easier for you.

flip flop 7

We don’t want to sew them all together right now.  Too much fabric would make it harder to wrap around the straps.

flip flop 9

Sew the first strip of fabric to one strap of your flip flop.  Notice that my needle is slightly bent in the photo.  This isn’t the eaiest part, but the cheaper the flip flop the thinner the strap will be!

Push the needle through slowly.  I  used the metal part of my scissors to give me something strong to push with.  Use caution!  You don’t want to poke yourself!

After you make a couple stitches, tie a knot and cut the thread.

flip flop 10

Now it’s time to rap…no, I mean WRAP!  This is the best part!  Put on a little music and have fun!

flip flop 11

I wrap my strips close because I want to have a fat and cushiony strap when I’m done.    Keep it pulled tightly and add more strips when needed.  Remember, we are turning cheap into something fabulous here!

I like the variations of color, but it might not be for everyone.  These are fun flips, and I’m sure you will come up with a million color combinations!

flip flop 13

I wrapped around the middle a few times and up and around the other side.  Then I wrapped a few different ways just to make sure you couldn’t see the plastic strap anymore.  Rocket science, right?

I don’t think you can do this wrong.  Wrap and unwrap until it’s just right.

flip flop 14

Stop with a little left so there’s something to grip and pull tight while you sew a couple more stitches to finish it up.  Then cut close to the stiches on the inside.

flip flop 1

That’s it girls!  Now I have some funky, fabulous flips for a fun day in the sun!  Very original, don’t ya think?

OK, I’m pulling myself away from browsing through Chaco’s Flip Flops to write this post! Is it unusual to spend 45 minutes looking at one shoe in different colors at all angles while trying to decide which is your favorite?

When I first started looking at them {while sipping my coffee on my back porch on a beautiful morning…just setting the scene here.} I noticed how comfortable they looked. Then I noticed all the colors. Well, just in case you haven’t figured this out yet…I’m a color girl for sure! I totally heart colorful flip flops!

Anyway…as I was checking out the colors and switching from one view to another, I noticed the price! OK, well when the price and the color are right…It’s a GOOD THING!

The shoe I have above is on sale {in certain sizes only…good luck girls} for $20.23 and if you spend $25 or more on Amazon you get free shipping! They are originally $59.95!

Here are some of the features:

  • American Podiatric Medical Association Seal of Acceptance
  • Biocentric design helps control pronation and prevent injuries
  • Full grain leather lined footbed with pron layer for improved cushioning
  • Ecotread 25% recycled outsole

What all that really means is it’s a great looking shoe that’s nice to your footsies! It has a slightly raised heel and midsole support so your feet won’t cry! This is a great flip flop for a day at the park wearing Bermuda shorts and having fun!

Here’s the other Chaco shoe that I can’t leave without telling you about…

ScreenHunter 21 Mar. 28 09

Chaco Women’s Switch Sandal! It’s $16.72 in my size!

You really need to go take a look at all of them yourself. Plan a little time. They have so many pretty colors! Red looks awesome, but I can’t list all red shoes on this blog!

I’m off to get  more coffee and my credit card number!

Happy shopping!
